Description

Press release from the Town of Weymouth: August 26, 2021 - 9:38am Today a distribution valve along Pond Street failed (in closed position). This caused extremely high pressure to parts of the distribution system, eventually causing a number of breaks in the distribution system (Thomas Street and two on Nelson Road).  Work now continues on Pond Street (valve replacement), and inspections to ALL South Weymouth valves and pipe intersections are being conducted.  Emergency interconnection was opened with Braintree at 3:30 pm today and water supplement samples are being taken regularly. It is expected (and hoped for) work to be completed this evening.  Water pressure and water tank levels should be returned to normal conditions overnight. DPW and an outside contractor are working hard to rectify this situation and we appreciate the residents patience while these repairs are being done.
