Looking for a pro-caliber singer (songwriter a big plus too) for an all-original prog rock band based in the East Bay. (Also bonus points if you can play the flute, or the violin, or the tromboon, etc.) We are a group of musicians with a history of gigging and recording, and want to make music that has an old-school progressive vibe: lush textures, lots of dynamic contrasts, strange interludes, bombastic odd-time-signature riffing, unexpected "and now for something completely different" left turns, huge buildups, dramatic presentation, wistful lyrics -- all with a dash of humor. Our chops, our gear, and our attitudes are pro, but none of us are doing this for a job. This is for the love of the music we grew up with, and to make something we're really, really proud of. Reference points: classic prog (Genesis, Renaissance, King Crimson, Yes, Tull, Floyd, Rush, Van Der Graaf Generator, Gentle Giant, the Canterbury scene) and NWOBPR (Marillion, Twelfth Night, IQ, Pallas, Pendragon).
