HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — Five businesses in Brandon and nearby are among the fastest-growing private companies in the United States, according to a new list released by Inc.com. The annual list highlights 5,000 of the country's fastest-growing companies, which are ranked by overall revenue growth over a three-year period. The top 500 are then featured in the September issue of Inc. Magazine. Honorees must apply to be selected. In total, this year's honorees brought in $248 billion in revenue and added more than 2.5 million jobs to the U.S. economy. The fastest-growing company in the Brandon area is SD3IT, according to this year's list. Located in Seffner, a woman-owned technology consulting firm providing professional services for the federal government and small businesses around the globe. In all, the company grew more than 571 percent in the past year. Overall, the company recorded a year-over-year growth of 48,345 percent. Companies that have made the list in the past include Pandora, 7-Eleven, Toys R Us, Zipcar and Zappos.com
