PUYALLUP, WA — Interested in learning more about how your local government works? Well, the City of Puyallup hopes you are, because it has launched a massive new program to help people learn more about how the city works and makes decisions.
The program is called "Puyallup 101" and is an 8-week course for adults 18+ that the city says will:
Offer a behind-the-scenes look into city functions.Help foster a relationship between the public and city.Explain what Council representatives do and their goals in office. Encourage community members to get more involved in local politics. To enroll, the City of Puyallup says students only have to be Puyallup residents, business owners or work in the city who are not currently running for or serving in a political office.
Classes run every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with the fall semester starting Thursday, Sept. 9.
