NEW HAVEN, CT — The New Haven Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that left a teenager dead. According to police, on Wednesday around 10:51 p.m., the department received several 911 calls in reference to a shooting on Chatham Street, between Rowe Street and Ferry Street. When police arrived on the scene, they said they found a 14-year-old New Haven resident suffering from gunshot wounds. New Haven Independent identified the shooting victim as Tyshaun "TyTy" Hargrove. American Medical Response transported Hargrove to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was pronounced deceased, police said. It was not immediately what led up to the shooting or if police have identified any any suspects. According to the newspaper, Hargrove leaves behind a 1-year-old child. He would have turned 15 on Sept. 11. His death is said to be New Haven's 19th homicide so far this year. Police are asking that any witnesses who have not yet spoken with officers to contact the New Haven Police Department Investigative Services Division at 203-946-6304.
