HERNDON, VA — Every dog has its day. Today is that day. Thursday is International Dog Day. To help celebrate the event, Patch asked readers in Herndon to share photos of their precious pups for our special dog-day photo gallery. It was only fair to reach out to dog owners for the holiday since we extended the same invitation to cat owners to celebrate International Cat Day on Aug. 6. We received so many that we had to do a second gallery. If you'd like to see your pup included in our celebration, add a photo in the comment section below. Lucy is 10 month Sheepadoodle and Maggie as a 6 year old Australian Labradoodle — Jessie Georges, Herndon Millie girl, she is a rescue from the tough streets of Princeton, West Virginia. We adopted Millie when she was around 9 months old and exactly one month after moving to Herndon. Millie is an American Staffordshire Terrier and Jack Russel mix. She's around 4.5 years old. She loves to give lots of kisses, and is a regular at Jimmy's beer garden where she enjoys all the doggy treats and belly rubs from the other regulars. Millie also loves to sail with us on the Potomac River, that is the picture I am sharing with you. She is quite an exceptional puppy! She has an Instagram account in case there are other pictures that capture your attention. — Lorena Brady, Herndon This is Charlie Martens.
