ARLINGTON, VA — Every dog has its day. Today is that day. Thursday is International Dog Day. To help celebrate the event, Patch asked readers in Arlington share photos of their precious pups for our special dog-day photo gallery. It was only fair to reach out to dog owners for the holiday since we extended the same invitation to cat owners to celebrate International Cat Day on Aug. 6. If you'd like to see your pup included in our celebration, add a photo in the comment section below. Will dance for treats. — Lisa Wilson, Arlington This is my sweet bull terrier, Claire. I rescued her at 7 months and she just turned 4 on August 6. She came trained to ring a bell at the door to go potty. She's very clever and you will find her Facebook page under Clever Claire-Adopted — Liane Banse, Arlington This is Ginger. We rescued her 5 years ago when she was 4 years old. Her DNA test said she is a mix of only 2 breeds: one parent was an Australian Cattle Dog, and the other was a Treeing Walker Coonhound. She's wicked smart. Her hobbies include sleeping, eating, barking, eating, playing games with her mom, and eating. — Deb Duncan Beatrix poses with Arlington County Police Officer Douglass — Robin Buckley, Arlington Midnight, age 12, was adopted by Elizabeth Humphrey from the Animal Welfare League of Arlington in June 2010.
