DARIEN, CT — A New Canaan man charged with possessing child pornography is accused of having "inappropriate and unlawful contact" with minors in Darien, according to police.
In a news release, Police Sgt. James Palmieri said Darien detectives were contacted by New Canaan police on Aug. 13 regarding an investigation involving 24-year-old Quinten Yonkers.
During their investigation, New Canaan police became aware of the possibility that Yonkers had been in contact with minors living in Darien, which forensic analysis of electronic devices supported, Palmieri said.
This information was turned over to Darien police for further investigation. Yonkers, meanwhile, was arrested on a warrant by New Canaan police on Aug. 18.
After an investigation that included interviews and analyzing evidence from Yonkers' devices, police determined Yonkers had been in contact with minors living in Darien for an extended period of time, Palmieri said.
"Further investigation revealed evidence that Yonkers had made inappropriate and unlawful contact with, and had taken video/images of, the aforementioned minors," Palmieri said in a news release.
Darien police applied for and were granted an arrest warrant Tuesday, and Yonkers turned himself into the department later that day, Palmieri said.
Held on a $250,000 bond, Yonkers was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a minor and employing a minor in an obscene performance.
