POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ – The Point Pleasant Beach Board of Education revealed its updated safety plan for returning to school in September. The changes were presented in a slide show, which can be found on the district website, and detailed how staff and faculty will keep students as safe as possible. "The brief slide-show was intended to answer the most current questions about key changes that are being made to our practices. Though it's not an exhaustive list of changes, it captures the essence of day-to-day operational changes," Point Beach Superintendent of Schools William Smith said to Patch. According to the presentation, parents have to submit monthly at-home screening commitment forms on Genesis, and all students will have their temperatures checked every day via their wrists. In regards to masks and mask-wearing, masks are required for all faculty, staff, students, andvisitors while inside school buildings, and students who arrive at school without a mask will be offered a mask. If they refuse, they will be isolated in a designated area, and parents will be called to pick them up. Refusal to wear a mask without an approved exemption will be considered aviolation of the school community's health and safety, and repeated refusals may result in exclusion from school and school-related activities. "The plan is comprehensive and should feel mostly familiar to families who enjoyed full-day in-person learning with us all of last year," Smith said. "I think the majority of our community understands the enormous task assigned to schools to get open, stay open, and protect the health and safety of a huge community of employees and students."
