(Houston Patch) At least three Houston hospital systems are preparing to administer COVID-19 vaccine booster shots or already have started doing so. Memorial Hermann, Houston Methodist and St. Luke's all began the process of giving out the third shots after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration both authorized the shot earlier this month. (Houston Public Media) Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston estimates between 1,500 and 2,500 Afghan refugees will make their way to Houston within the next 9 months with many being initially ineligible for public benefits. These refugees are considered parolees, with many waiting through delays for Special Immigration Status, and will have to change their immigration status before they can receive benefits. California chicken sandwich restaurant Daddy's Chicken Shack will open its first Houston location in the Heights. The restaurant is known for its sandwiches and wide range of spice levels and flavors, ranging from mild to Nashville Hot. The menu also features chicken and waffles, breakfast sandwiches, nuggets and salads. (CultureMap Houston) A tropical wave north of Colombia is likely to develop into a tropical cyclone and move past the Yucatan Peninsula into the Gulf of Mexico in the next five days. The National Weather Service said as of Wednesday afternoon it was too early to tell what impact the system could have on Southeast Texas.
