Description
Hey craigslist people. Help me out here. Maybe I’m out on a limb all by myself, I don’t know. I’d like to hear your feedback. Okay? I’m a bass player in a local East Bay band. Now, I don’t claim to be the most talented bass player out there. Not by a long shot! But I do what I can do well!! I work, practice and strive to do the things that I can do to best of my ability. I continually work to improve my timing, note articulation and clarity of my playing. I’ve created a stage persona for myself which I continually work on improving, it’s all about the image that I project to our paying customers while I perform. And I want that image, that character, if you will, to be as professional, entertaining and engaging as I can make him. Of course, that’s something which is still a work in progress and I continually to hone. So, what’s my problem? What do I want?? What am I complaining about??!! What I really want is to work with like-minded professionals!! I want to work with people who will take their playing, their music and their stage performance seriously and professionally!! ……Well, “what does that mean” you ask?? It means just a few simple things: 1. Stick to the set list. 2. Play the songs as rehearsed. 3. Transition smoothly from one song to the next. 4. And no dead time between songs. 5. Breaks last 10 to 15 minutes and no more. 6. No excessive drinking while we're performing (I don’t have a problem with a couple of beers over the course of a night. But that’s about it.) 7. When video or audio recordings are available, band members are expected to review and critique their own performances and stage presence in an effort to continually improve. 8. Last but not least, remember that we are there to provide entertainment to our paying customers. We don’t just play a collection of songs. We entertain people! That means jokes and gags between the songs that oftentimes lead into the next song. (This helps with No. 3 above) The concept that “We are there for our customer’s enjoyment and entertainment and not the other way around” has to be key in everyone’s performance and has to be our guiding principle as a band. Okay, so there you have it!! I spilled my guts, spewed out my complaints and frustrations,.... Now what do y’all think? I’d appreciate your feedback. Thanks for reading You can email me direct or just use the craigslist return email Oh and hey,… If you are a professional musician and you like what you’re hearing from me and you got some ideas for a show that we can put together,… Well,… Let’s talk.
