FREEHOLD, NJ — First responders from Freehold Boro and Township will join to commemorate the anniversary of 9/11 and fundraise. The day will start with a ceremony at the Boro Town Hall, at 8:15 a.m. All emergency service units will then start marching at 9:30 a.m. in direction of. the Freehold Township Municipal Building, via West Main Street, and participate in the ceremony by the 9/11 Memorial. From noon to 3 p.m. there will be an open house with food and drinks at the Freehold Township Independent Fire Company #1, at 220 Stillwells Corner Road. READ MORE: Monmouth Co. They can be picked up from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 10 at Freehold Township Independent Fire Co. All proceeds will go to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Later in the day, the Monmouth County shoreline will light up with cellphones from residents and elected officials. The plan is to get everyone to turn on their lights at 8:46 p.m, honoring "the heroes" of Sept.11, 2001. The Board of County Commissioners is also inviting families of Monmouth County 9/11 victims to attend a Memorial Ceremony at 8 a.m. at Mount Mitchill Scenic Overlook, at 460 Ocean Boulevard, Atlantic Highlands.
