KEENE, NH — An injured hiker from Merrimack was assisted by New Hampshire Fish and Game conservation officers on Wednesday on Pack Monadnock Mountain.
Ann Lefeber, 46, suffered from a fall not far from the summit while hiking on Marion Davis Trail in Miller State Park. Around 12:30 p.m., Peterborough, Temple and Jaffrey fire and rescue teams along with conservation officers and deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office responded to the parking lot at the park to coordinate their efforts to assist the hiker. They learned Lefeber was a short distance from the auto road to goes to the summit.
"First responders quickly arrived at Lefeber's location on the Marion Davis Trail which was only a few hundred feet away from the summit and assisted her onto a litter where she was carried to an awaiting ambulance on the Auto Road," Thomas Houghton, a conservation officer, said.
Lefeber was taken to Monadnock Community Hospital by the Peterborough ambulance for further evaluation and treatment of her injuries.
Houghton said outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to purchase a Hike Safe card, linked here, which helps support Fish and Game search and rescue activities.
