JOLIET, IL — The Will County State's Attorney's Office filed eight felony charges Thursday against a 21-year-old Joliet man who Joliet police say committed the crime of aggravated street racing last Oct. 17 on West Jefferson Street. While street racing in his Infiniti G35, Justin Lario Jones-Allen crashed into a Nissan Pathfinder driven by a woman, causing a wreck and serious bodily injury to the other motorist's passenger, according to the criminal complaint. Jones-Allen, who lives in the 100 block of Second Avenue, was charged with four counts of aggravated reckless driving and four counts of aggravated street racing. The criminal complaint from Joliet police officer Bob Mau Jr. states that Jones-Allen "knowingly engaged in street racing on West Jefferson Street ... in that he operated a vehicle, an Infiniti G35, from a point side by side with another vehicle at accelerating speeds in a competitive attempt to outdistance each other, and he was involved in a motor vehicle accident that resulted in great bodily harm or permanent disability to another ... and said violation was a proximate cause of the injury." A Will County judge has set bail at $50,000 for Jones-Allen. As of 3 p.m., the Joliet 21-year-old had not been booked into the Will County Jail on South Chicago Street.
