Description

Press release from the Wright County Government: August 19, 2021 The U.S. Drought Monitor has released its weekly report on drought conditions in Minnesota. While no areas in the state showed marked improvement, the classification for Wright County remained unchanged. Almost all of the county remains in the D3 category (Extreme Drought) with the very southern portion of the county designated at D2 (Severe Drought). Unfortunately, more of Minnesota (8.07 percent) moved into the D4 category (Exceptional Drought). The U.S. Drought Monitor began in 1999 and this summer is the first time any portion of Minnesota has been in the D4 category. To see the last several weeks of the Drought Monitor map and how it has progressively gotten worse for Wright County and much of the state, go to the Wright County MN Facebook page and follow the page for alerts, news and information.
