MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Seven people are expected to survive after they were injured in a shooting on the 3000 block of Lyndale Avenue South just after midnight Thursday.
The Minneapolis Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls alerting them that several people had been shot at 12:20 a.m. Thursday, police said. Responding officers described the scene as "very chaotic."
Upon their arrival, officers located three people suffering from gunshot wounds. They were told that at least three other victims had already been transported to Hennepin Healthcare by private vehicles, and that another showed up at North Memorial Medical Center suffering from gunshot wounds.
"It is believed that the injuries happened at this incident," the MPD said in a news release.
One of the people injured is in critical condition, five are in serious condition and one is in good condition, police said. All seven are expected to survive their injuries.
A preliminary investigation shows that two people were shooting at each other outside of a business and numerous people were injured, police said. Investigators are working to identify whether the victims are suspects, intended targets or bystanders.
