Description

HEALDSBURG, CA — A water main break Wednesday at a construction site in the city of Healdsburg prompted authorities to advise some residents to use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes. Residents within the yellow highlighted Boil Water Zone on the below map should not drink city or cook with city tap water without first boiling it, according to the notice issued Wednesday in conjunction with the State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Drinking Water, the Sonoma County Health Department and The City of Healdsburg Water System. "Do not drink the water without boiling it first," the city said in the notice. "Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one (1) minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms that may be in the water." The map provided by the city shows the area as bordered on the west by Healdsburg Avenue, on the north by the area of Solar Way, on the east by Canary Court, and on the south by Kinley Drive. The water main break caused a loss of pressure, and the city needs to test the water. The city expects to lift the boil water notice within 24-48 hours. "No harmful qualities have been identified in the water supply, however, testing is required to confirm," the city said. "The City will perform this work as quickly as possible to minimize the disruption to residents and businesses." Bay City News Service contributed to this report.
