CHICAGO — A man has been arrested and charged after police said he hit another man on the head with a hammer while riding a CTA train early Tuesday morning.
Curtis Tyler, 30, was arrested shortly after 6 a.m. in the 900 block of West Belmont Avenue. Police said a 50-year-old man was on a Red Line train around 5:15 a.m. when Tyler approached him and hit him on the head with a hammer.
The 50-year-old was left with a cut on his forehead. He was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was in stable condition, officials said.
Tyler was charged with battery with a deadly weapon, damage to property and public indecency, police said. He was also given a citation for having a weapon on a CTA car, according to police.
