Janitor Job Description: Top Duties and Qualifications A Janitor, or Cleaner, is responsible for maintaining a cleanly facility by completing a variety of cleaning tasks. Their duties include mopping and vacuuming floors, cleaning surfaces with disinfectant and emptying trash cans or recycling bins. Employment Requirement: · Pass employment verification and background check · Valid US Citizenship or Permanent Alien Residency · High school diploma or GED equivalent ·​ Professional appearance with mature and positive attitude ·​ Team player Janitor duties and responsibilities: A Janitor is in charge of keeping the workplace clean, organized and disinfected. Perform various tasks relating to general housekeeping of facilities and maintain the facility for a clean, healthy and safe place to work Perform routine duties related to cleaning common areas, using tools and equipment and cleaning products safely. Position may require some lifting over 50lbs, or use of ladders Mop, vacuum, dust, sweep, scrub, scrape, and buff. Expectation to replenish supplies in the restrooms; i.e. toilet paper, paper towels, soap, etc Use precaution while performing floor work—eliminating conditions of slips trips and falls with use of expand-o-guard gates, caution tape, signs and or cones. Key results include clean work areas and floors, absence of dust on shelves or partition tops, trash that is picked-up daily, clean toilets and restrooms.
