Tough Mudder is looking for contracted build crew staff for upcoming Pittsburgh Tough Mudder Event and for the rest of the 2021 Event Season. This is a contracted / daily rate position, with travel, lodging, and a per diem for travel. Build Staff Members are responsible for building and assembling obstacles and structures on the event course and in the festival area at various events throughout the country. As a Build Staff team-member, you will be the hands-on builder and fabricator of all obstacles on-site. You will become proficient in the construction of truss-built and wood structures, using a variety of power tools and hand tools. Additionally, Build Staff are directly involved in the mobilization of materials throughout the event sites and will be trained to operate a variety of equipment, including telehandlers, rough-terrain forklifts, excavators, skid steers, flatbeds and UTV’s. After the obstacles are up, and the course is built - you’ll transition into a zone leader role for the weekend event. You’ll help manage customer concerns, volunteer welfare and placement, and ensure the smooth and pleasant operation of the event for all attendees. An ideal candidate will communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization and from all backgrounds, employ creative problem-solving when addressing issues, always maintain high personal standards or workmanship, and understand the impact of working safely and effectively.
