Our network of 101 food pantries, 20 affordable housing sites, and 15 JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York. Position Summary: This position’s primary responsibility is to drive an 18 foot truck to pick up and distribute food, and assist with warehouse operations when not driving. Principal Responsibilities:  Pick up food at City Harvest and Suppliers and Donors Deliver food to Agencies in a cordial manner Oversee loading and unloading of truck Help out in warehouse when needed (move pallets, stack product, organize warehouse, inventory) Truck Maintenance Coordinate pickups and deliveries with other drivers Track Deliveries on Vehicle Logs Additional responsibilities as assigned. Competencies: Organizational skills Thoroughness Time Management Skill and Education: High School diploma or GED, or equivalent years of experience Requires valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) 2 years of experience driving truck with Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Ability to operate a Forklift (HI-LO) and Pallet Jack (manual & electric) effectively Basic Math Skills Basic knowledge of New York City roads English, Yiddish/Russian preferred Physical Demands: Required Constantly: Walking, sitting, grasping, bending, stooping, squatting, computer input, finger dexterity and coordination of hand, eye and foot. Lifting boxes weighing between up to 30 lbs to stock shelves or tables Required Frequently: Standing and climbing stairs; carrying laptop & files (approx. 8-10 lbs) Required Occasionally: Reaching above the shoulder, and lifting 5-25 pounds, pushing and pulling Special Requirements: A lot of manual labor. May spend significant periods outside the warehouse in possible inclement weather.
