POSITION TITLE: Daily Animal Caretaker REPORTS TO: Shelter Manager POSITION SUMMARY: The person in this position will provide daily care to the cats at the SpayMart shelter in Picayune, MS. The Daily Animal Caretaker’s duties include but are not limited to: Caring for cats in a shelter setting Assisting in observing cats for health issues or personality changes Feeding cats; paying careful attention to special diets Cleaning litter boxes Cleaning cages Washing and sanitizing litter boxes and food bowls Emptying trash Replacing linens when soiled Sweeping and mopping colony cat rooms (indoor and outdoor) Stocking and putting away supplies and donations Transporting cats when needed Doing Laundry Providing mental stimulation and enrichment for cats Operate washing machine and dryer Assist with yard maintenance and general building maintenance when needed Other duties as assigned by Shelter Manager This role requires the following qualifications: Must have a love for cats Must speak English and be able to read and write Must be able to lift 50 pounds Must be comfortable restraining animals, or a willingness to learn Must have good observational skills Must be a team player and be willing to help others when needed Must be willing/able to work day and night shifts Must be willing to work weekends and holidays Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently to some degree 25-30 hours are designated for this position at a starting rate of pay of $10 per hour.
