Description
Come for a drink and stay for great conversations with others in the vibrant Cleveland startup community. Cleveland has become a hub for startups and operators who are looking to connect with one another and build a strong tech community together. From Boxcast to viperks, the CLE startup scene is flourishing, and there's ample opportunity for more collaboration. Harlem Capital, Venture for America, and Upside Podcast have teamed up to host the first of what we hope will be many happy hours to grow our ecosystem. We welcome builders, founders, investors, and champions of the CLE startup ecosystem. Light bites and two drink tickets will be provided. About our hosts: Harlem Capital: Early-stage VC fund focused on investing in people of color and women. HCP writes checks from $1-2mm in seed rounds for 10% ownership. The team just raised its Fund II of $134mm and has the vision to invest in 1,000 entrepreneurs over the next 20 years. HCP was founded in NYC, but partner Brandon Bryant (a CLE native) has boomeranged back to the city of champions.Venture for America: Nonprofit fellowship program equipping recent college grads with the skills and resources to catalyze economic growth across American cities. VFA connects fellows with jobs in startups, entrepreneurship-adjacent organizations, and early-stage companies. To date, VFA CLE has trained 109 fellows, five of whom have gone on to found their own startups.Upside Network: A collection of podcasts and newsletters about startups outside of Silicon Valley. The network’s flagship show, upside.fm, interviews early-stage founders, founders, and community builders across the country. The Cleveland show, Lay of the Land, is hosted by Jeffrey Stern; and, the Cincinnati show, When Pigs Fly, is hosted by Allie Martin and Patrick Bailey. The network is looking to expand to 10 new cities by the end of 2021. Harlem Capital Partners ("HCP") is a New York based early-stage venture capital firm on a mission to change the face of entrepreneurship by investing in 1,000 diverse founders over the next 20 years. We are focused on investing in minority and women founders in the United States.
