Learn how to make your own water based paints and inks using locally foraged and home grown plants as well as locally found minerals.
In this workshop, we'll make at least one color from pigment to paint using a gum arabic base, and experiment with natural additives such as vinegar, baking soda and soap to create more variations of our homemade colors. We'll each make 2 paintings on watercolor paper using a pallette of 5 natural paint colors. You can choose to join me ( Barbara Davin) in a paint-along or create your own original designs.
Materials to bring to class:
1. rubber gloves (the medical kind, not kitchen gloves)
2. Two or three clean rags from old T-shirts
3. A medium-sized cardboard box to carry your paints and paintings home in.
