Description

Eastern Shore Private home tour Join Us for an Eastern Shore Home tour 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021 At last! The Events Committee of the Washington Mid Atlantic Chapter of the ICAA is pleased to announce its first in-person event in more than a year. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy a field trip while experiencing some of the best architecture, gardens, and craftswork in the region. We look forward to seeing you soon. Our first stop is Hoyle Stone Products in Millington, MD. Hoyle has been manufacturing precast products since 1950 and producing architectural cast stone since 1992. Staff will provide a tour of their plant in addition to conducting a live demonstration of the production process. 1:00 PM lunch will be provided at nearby Two Trees Restaurant in Millington. Several homemade choices will be provided, and the cost is included in admission. The next stop is Cloverfields in Chestertown, MD. Cloverfields was one of the largest houses in the area when it was first built at the beginning of the 18th century. Kimmel Studio Architects, along with a team of preservation specialists, have spent the last few years researching, restoring, and recreating the house and garden to what they would have looked like in 1784. We are privileged to have a close-up look at this private house museum from the firm that handled its complete transformation. The last stop is a new residence constructed by Winchester, Inc. on the Chester River. Thomas D. Albright with Winchester will conduct a tour of this new American farmhouse, which was a collaboration with Charles E. Anthony Architects. Transportation is not provided, please plan to meet at the noted stops. Directions and an itinerary will be provided at our first stop. This event was made possible through the generous support of Hoyle Stone Products. Photo by Cloverfields. The Institute of Classical Architecture & Classical America (ICAA) is the leading national nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the practice and appreciation of the classical tradition in architecture and the allied arts. ICAA maintains a strong ‘voice’ in the public domain, championing the continuation of the classical tradition as a vital cultural resource. TICKET REFUND POLICY We are happy to refund your ticket purchase if request is made at least 72 hours prior to an event. Many of our events sell out, and refunds requested less than 72 hours prior to an event will only be made if the ticket can be taken by another party. We cannot honor request for refund, or exchange, after an event for which a ticket has been purchased has occurred.
