ABOUT THE ARTIST Album Covers Presents: The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society. An odd choice, maybe, but this special event is not to be missed. As Scott Tipping explains, “There will be two sets, one set is the album, one set of greatest hits from The Kinks.” The album was suggested by Executive Director Melissa Mercado as a tip of the hat to our friend Steve Warrenfeltz, (a well-known Kinks fan and owner of Kiss The Sky Records in Batavia,) for his years of service and dedication to the Fox Valley Music Foundation. The album wasn’t well received when it came out (but it is Steve’s favorite,) and is now considered by publications like Rolling Stone as one of the most important Rock and Roll albums of all time. “It’s going to be an amazing night of music. This record has influenced many more modern bands like Wilco. It was definitely ahead of its time and we’ve got some amazing musicians to come in and play it.” Joining Scott Tipping will be Carolyn Engelmann, John San Juan, Phil Angotti and John Perrin. The ensemble will perform this album in its entirety and a second set of greatest hits and deep cuts! At The Venue, we book nationally-recognized talent in all genres of music from blues and big band, to rock and world music, and everything in between.
