Dates: Oct 05 and 06, 2021 * Venue: 4700 Bohannon Drive Menlo Park, CA-(HC) Pediatric Neurocritical Care Boot CampExclusively offered to Stanford Children's Health employees. DESCRIPTION This is a two-day course that will use lectures, skills stations, case studies, and high-fidelity simulations to discuss advanced topics in pediatric neurocritical care nursing. The structure of the course will be loosely based off of Emergency Neurological Life Support modules and will cover major ENLS concepts, pediatric considerations, specific neurologic and neurosurgical diseases in children, and institutional pathways at LPCHS. OBJECTIVES Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to: Identify and treat patients with acute neurological emergencies.Manage all patients in the PICU setting with a primary neurological problem.Understand the role of the bedside nurse and be an active participant in the treatment of diverse critical neurological problems.Manage patients in collaboration with the Neurology and Neurosurgical provider teams.Become an expert in the use of advanced neuromonitoring and treatment technologies. CONTINUING EDUCATION This continuing education (CE) course is offered through Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford by the Center for Professional Excellence and Inquiry (CPEI). Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 9713, approved for 10.7 contact hours.Contact hours awarded for full program attendance only. Partial credit will not be given for partial attendance. TARGET AUDIENCE This course is designed for acute and critical care pediatric nurses who already have a background in acute neurological and neurosurgical conditions. Audience will (ideally) have already completed the basic new hire PICU neuro/neurosurgery orientation and have some familiarity with basic bedside neuro exam, sedation and mechanical ventilation, antiepileptic medications, neurosurgeries, and EVDs, although this is not required.
