SWAMPSCOTT, MA — The Swampscott Board of Health is seeking a third member to fill a vacancy through the end of the current term. The term runs through April 2022 when the office will be subject to a vote in the annual town election. The Select Board and the remaining two Board of Health members will choose the replacement from the pool of interested candidates. The Board of Health performs duties to protect public health, sanitary living conditions. disease control, food permit issuance, beach testing, environmental protection and other duties under the state directive. "The Swampscott Board of Health, in particular, emphasizes a commitment to ensure social and racial equity in envisioning initiatives, enforcing policies, and setting regulations," the town said. The Board of Health meets regularly monthly, though it may meet more frequently as needed. Swampscott seeks candidates with a particular interest in environmental protection to join current Board members and Swampscott Public School nurses Emily Cilley and Marianne Hartmann. New Swampscott residents are welcomed to apply. Swampscott encourages women, minorities, veterans, members of the LGBTQ+, people with disabilities and those from other underrepresented demographic groups in the town.
