Description
POINT LOOKOUT, NY — It was a gathering point to console as the Twin Towers flattened in front of our eyes. People were able to stare out to the west and see smoke where the attacks leveled the World Trade Center.
Twenty years later, residents will return to Town Park Point Lookout to reflect on that dreadful day.
Neighbors, clergy, first responders and family members of 9/11 victims will participate in the annual sunrise memorial service, the Town of Hempstead said in a statement.
Following the ceremony, a "remembrance" wall will be displayed for guests to write messages.
Adding to the emotions, the 9/11 Memorial Park is also there with a 30-foot tall beam from the North Tower of the World Trade Center and inscriptions of the victims.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. on September 11.
