FARMINGDALE, NY — Art will be in full abundance in Farmingdale Village on Sept. 19. Farmingdale's "Art in the Park" is set to be held on the Village Green between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The 10th installment of the event, which is free to attend, is due to feature approximately 20 artists exhibiting and selling their artwork, according to a news release. Elaine Faith Thompson, considered a legendary Long Island artist, is set to return to Farmingdale's "Art in the Park." Thompson's artwork has been commissioned and recognized by levels of government. Her paintings include the 2009 U.S. Open Bethpage Golf Tournament, the 2019 PGA Championship, Long Island Lighthouses, Elvis Presley; a painting of George Washington in the chapel of the U.S. Capitol praying for his troops, among others. Reproductions of Thompson's artwork will be on display and available for purchase at the event. "Come meet these special Long Island artists and enjoy their magnificent artwork displayed on the Farmingdale Village Green," the village stated. "Art in the Park" is a juried art show, featuring an array of original artwork on display, as well as ribbons and prizes to be awarded. The Farmingdale Village Cultural Arts Committee planned the event. Residents were urged by the village to shop and dine while downtown to help support local merchants.
