ANDOVER, MA — The Walk To End Alzheimer's is returning to Andover in person Oct. 3, after canceling the large gathering in 2020. The annual event, hosted by the Alzheimer's Association, brings people together to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer's care, support and research. Andover is home to the Northeastern MA walk. The Opening Ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 3 at Brickstone Square in Andover. There are two routes, a 3-mile one and a half-mile loop. Over 500 participants and 180 teams have already registered for the walk. "We are so excited to bring this powerful event back to the community in a way that celebrates the efforts of our volunteers, sponsors, participants, and donors while honoring those we've lost to this devastating disease," said Jim Wessler, CEO of the Alzheimer's Association Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter. "We are working to ensure everyone who attends feels welcome, safe, and inspired." The organization is monitoring public health guidance ahead of the event. Supporters also have the option to "Walk From Home" using the mobile app. Christopher Huffaker can be reached at 412-265-8353 or [email protected].
