Libertarianism has replaced Conservatism

I remember when the anti-vaxxer movement was still mostly vegan-hippies and conspiracy lunatics. That sure changed over the past year. The conspiracy lunatics would talk about vaccines being full of magnets and microchips so the government could track everyone. The hippie-vegans would denounce Big Pharmaceutical companies (anti-capitalism really) and say everyone should go with "natural remedies" like herbs from the garden and a few hits of of good weed. That the political Right has embraced the anti-vaxxer movement, I think it is because libertarian ideology has replaced conservatism. Conservatives are about civil society; law & order; and things like faith, family, country. Libertarians are the polar opposite, they're all about self. The libertarian view is "you can't tell me what to do" and thus they refuse to wear a mask or get their shots and they don't care if it saves lives because the individual is everything and society is nothing. For the Libertarian, it's ok to spread a disease that kills 600,000 people because "freedom". They really don't want to be inconvenienced in any way. They would rather that other people die than for them to be inconvenienced with wearing a mask for a quick run to the store. If Ronald Reagan were president now, he would get on national television to talk about duty, honor, country. He would say that sacrifice was necessary to get through the Great Depression and WWII. A mask mandate for a few months until everyone gets vaccinated is NOT a big thing really. I could see Reagan getting an injection on national television to dispel the fearmongering of vaccines. None of today's leaders will do that.
