Hermit Crabs

Description

Hello All. You're probably here because you've heard of hermit crabs being an "easy starter pet" and "Great for kids". We've all been fooled. This is entirely incorrect and I want to explain why. Hermit crabs are tropical crustaceans that have a plethora of care requirements in order to survive and thrive in captivity. Ever wonder where all of those hermies come from that you see at our big box pet stores?? They are harvested in the wild, because they do not breed well in captivity. That being said, I am looking to rehome about 6-10 of my hermit crabs to the right person. This person will have a large aquarium set up(10-15 gallons of floorspace per crab, minimum, the bigger the better), with everything they need to thrive including: play sand/coconut fiber substrate, saltwater and fresh water pools big enough for their largest crab to submerge itself, plenty of foods to choose from, because commercial hermit crab food is really bad for them, contrary to what you've been led to think. Lots of décor to climb and hide in, including plastic foliage, driftwood, hides, etc. Tank heater mat that covers the length of your enclosure, placed on the back of the tank(not the underside). 6+ shells of various sizes, per crab. I am looking to rehome some of mine because I have too many that came in the enclosure I rescued. These creatures are a LOT of work, and they should not be taken lightly. They can also be very time consuming and expensive to care for if you have to purchase the equipment new. Please only contact me if you are serious about the commitment that these critters will require. I will require pictures of your set up prior to agreeing to meet.
