Good Wednesday morning Connecticut, There's a lot of news from across the state. First, a hazardous weather outlook has been issued for much of the state, as the heat index will reach near 100 degrees Wednesday. Please be careful if you need to be outdoors for any length of time today. The heat advisory and hazardous weather outlook continues until Thursday night. Here is the National Weather Service's definition of what constitutes a heat advisory: "A Heat Advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time." The heat really doesn't break until Saturday, when high temperatures only reach into the upper 70s. Here's a look at the trending stories across Connecticut: 1. New this AM: Johnson & Johnson says it has data showing that people can effectively get a booster shot for its single dose vaccine. (Full details here and the next steps that are needed first.) 2. The delta variant is having a major impact on restaurants, and Connecticut restaurants are seeking financial aid to help survive the lean times. The coronavirus numbers have been trending in the wrong direction for weeks due to the spread of the delta variant.
