MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Next time you're biking on on a trail in Montgomery County, snap a picture of yourself and your bike for a chance to win a prize. The Montgomery County Department is running a competition in the weeks leading up to Car Free Day, which promotes greener commuting. To enter the contest, snap a picture in front of a park or trail sign with your bike and upload it to Twitter or Instagram with the caption #MoCoBikes and tag @mococommuter. You can also email your photo to [email protected]. Each week a name will be drawn and the winner will get a bicycle "swag bag." Car Free Day will take place on Sept. 22, worldwide. "When more people travel on bicycles, buses, trains, and by carpools and vanpools, fewer pollutants are released into the atmosphere," MCDOT said in an announcement about Car Free Day. "Using more sustainable ways to get around, helps reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions and traffic congestion." *Today-Aug. 22 The @MCDOTNow 'Bicycle Swag Bag' contest begins!
