HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A 22-year-old man faces a 30-year prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree murder. Tarik Parker Dorsey was sentenced by Howard County Circuit Court Judge Mary Kramer and will serve 12 years out of the 30-year sentence.
On Oct. 3, 2020, Howard County Police responded to the 5600 block of Cedar Lane at approximately 8:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting and found two men, Sherod Madison Hogue of Columbia and Gregory Peck McGraw of Baltimore. Both men were taken to Shock Trauma for treatment and were released.
Police interviewed witnesses and learned that a group of people had gathered along Cedar Lane to shoot a music video. Dorsey argued with Hogue and their altercation escalted into a fight.
After the two were physically separated by nearby witnesses, Dorsey then shot Hogue twice, wounding him in his chest and arm. McGraw was standing behind Hogue and was injured as well. After the shooting, Dorsey fled the scene.
Upon his release from prison, Dorsey will be placed on supervised probation for 5 years and must not have any contact with the victim, Sherod Hogue.
