AUSTIN, TX — A suspect is now in custody after officers searched for a couple hours for a person who may have been armed with a weapon in central east Austin, officials said.
Police received a 911 call around 12:06 p.m. Tuesday for a "gun urgent" call near the area of 1619 E. Ninth Street, which is located near Huston-Tillotson University.
A heavy police presence was in the area of the 1700 block of East 11th Street, officials said.

Gonzalez said in a tweet Tuesday.
Motorists and pedestrians were urged to avoid the area. The secure status was lifted around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.
