By Steve Burger, WNIN Aug. 25, 2021 An inmate was found dead at the Vanderburgh County Jail over the weekend. The inmate, identified as Duane Garry Jr. of Evansville, was found unresponsive in a cell in the booking area of the jail during a normal inmate count Saturday morning. In a release, sheriff's officials said that rescue personnel were called, but were not able to revive Garry. His cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy. Vanderburgh County Sheriff's detectives are investigating, but foul play is not suspected. Garry had been checked periodically during the night Friday.
