FRANKLIN, NH — A savings bank and solar energy company are teaming up to help the bank offset its carbon footprint at five of its locations. Franklin Savings Bank is partnering with Revision Energy to install solar panels first, at the bank's location in Goffstown, and then Merrimack, Bristol, and Gilford. The bank's administrative service center in Franklin will also get an installation. The panels are expected to deliver close to 200kw of power to the bank's offices, according to the company. The environmental benefits realized from the bank's decision will eliminate 331,996 pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually from the Earth's atmosphere, the company said. "We have always taken great pride in being environmentally conscious when it comes to protecting our environment for future generations to enjoy," Ron Magoon, the bank's president and CEO, said. "We felt it was time to expand upon some of the things we have been doing in this area. And, we want to be viewed as a responsible, conscientious corporate citizen by our customers and the communities we have proudly served for over 152 years." The change is equivalent to 16,945 gallons of gasoline not burned, removal of 33 passenger automobiles from the road, 165,922 pounds of coal not burned, and 51 tons of waste recycled, the company said. David Webb, the commercial design specialist at Revision Energy who worked with the bank to bring the project to fruition, was "extremely impressed by the bank's diligence and commitment to lowering their operation's impact on the environment." Webb added, "I'm hopeful that a well-respected NH financial institution's decision to go solar will help drive other local businesses to do the same." It was unknown at post time the cost of the solar panel projects. Got a news tip? Send it to [email protected]. View videos on Tony Schinella's YouTube.com channel or Rumble.com channel.
