NEWARK, CA — If you've missed browsing through rows of bookshelves in search of the perfect book to read, you finally have the opportunity again. The brand new Newark Library opened on Monday. The library's hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, closed Friday and Saturday. These hours are expected to continue through Oct. 7. A ribbon cutting ceremony for the library will be held Oct. 9. The address of the new library is 37055 Newark Blvd. The library is one of three buildings newly constructed in the Civic Center. The other two are the Newark Police Department and the City Administration Building. Voters approved a half-cent sales tax increase in November 2016 to pay for the new Civic Center.
