WLTL Radio nominated for 13 John Drury Awards

Lyons Township High School WLTL 88.1 FM, was recently notified of 13 John Drury High School Radio Award nominations in 11 categories, the third most nominations for any school this year. With such a high number of nominations, WLTL is a contender to be named Best High School Station in the Nation once again, an award the station has received six times previously. "Creating entertaining and informative programs is always what ore students strive for, but doing so while mostly working remotely from home is simply amazing. I am beyond proud of their work, especially given the circumstances of last school year," said WLTL Station Manager Chris Thomas. The John Drury Awards ceremony will be held virtually on Saturday, December 5, at noon. The awards were created to acknowledge excellence in high school radio broadcasting and named in honor of award-winning ABC-Chicago news anchor John Drury. WLTL Radio is the student-run and operated station and has been on the air since 1968. The station has won more than 100 national awards since 1997. WLTL is nationally recognized, with multiple awards at the state and national levels. Thomas added, "I am proud of the hard work and dedication that our students put into WLTL for both their own growth as broadcasters and for the members of our community who tune in to our station."
