JOLIET, IL —A body discovered Wednesday morning in downtown Joliet at the bus depot near Jefferson and Scott Streets does not appear to be a suspicious death, according to Joliet Fire Chief Greg Blaskey.
The Will County Coroner's Office of Laurie Summers identified the man as James L. Johnson. The Joliet Police Department is now investigating Johnson's death and the cause and manner of death are pending, the coroner's office announced.
Paramedics and members of the Joliet Police Department were called to the bus depot around 9:10 a.m. Blaskey said the man who was found dead was 78 years old, and his death appeared to be from natural causes.
The Joliet Herald-News was the first news outlet to report on the man's death.
The Joliet Police Department issued a short news release indicating the senior citizen's death did not appear to show signs of foul play.
