ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst police reported last year they were getting a number of complaints about Repair Geekz. Several times in 2020, a man tied to the business was arrested. Apparently, the problems with the business at 927 S. York St. continue. In the last couple of weeks, two residents have written on Patch that they dropped off equipment to be repaired, but haven't been able to get in touch with the store for weeks. They asked Patch readers for advice. Neither resident was apparently aware of the shop's past issues. Patch pointed them to its stories about the business from last year. Repair Geekz has not returned Patch's previous messages for comment. On Wednesday, its voice mailbox was full. A person tied to the business is Daniel Marchwiany, 31, of Glen Ellyn. In December, he was arrested and taken to the DuPage County Jail on a charge of heroin possession. He was also arrested on three DuPage County warrants. According to a police report, officers were called to a house in the 700 block of South Poplar in Elmhurst because of an unknown medical problem and found Marchwiany under the influence of heroin, police said. In September, Marchwiany and Alicia Hubert, 42, also of Glen Ellyn, were found at Repair Geekz and arrested on DuPage County warrants, according to a report. In July, police were called to Repair Geekz because of a number of complaints from customers about the business. Officers came into contact with Marchwiany, who they then arrested on a DuPage County warrant, police said. Elmhurst Patch wrote a story about the issue. In February, police arrested Marchwiany after a customer told them she saw him snorting a substance off the counter while working at Repair Geekz, according to a police report. When officers arrived, they said they found suspected heroin. Marchwiany was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, police said.
