Police Citizens Advisory Board Will Hold Town Hall In September

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — The Gwinnett County Police Citizens Advisory Board will hold a town hall next month – and it is inviting the public to submit questions or comments ahead of the meeting. The town hall will take place on Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center (75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville). Attendees can meet board members, hear from chief of police J.D. McClure, and make their voices heard about public safety, a Facebook listing for the event says. Gwinnett County residents hoping the board will address a specific topic are invited to leave a question or comment on an online form that can be found here. Community members can either leave their contact information or submit comments anonymously. "The Gwinnett County Police Citizens Advisory Board acts as a liaison between the Gwinnett Police Department and residents to help enhance public safety within the community," the submission form says. "The board empowers residents to be more informed and involved though providing recommendations related to law enforcement policies, procedures, practices, and training through positive and open communication." The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners established the advisory board through a resolution effective Feb. 1, according to its website. The 11-member board is comprised of Commission District appointees and representatives from the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, County Bar Association Criminal Defense Section, and other county entities.
