On behalf of Newmark Merrill Companies, Inc. (NMM), Modern Art Services (MAS) invites local artists to submit their qualifications to be considered for a new mural at Norwalk Town Square. The mural will be installed on the shopping centers famous clock tower and will be a prominent artwork within the community. The mural is a part of a national Community Art project started by NMM in 2019 to uplift the communities where their shopping centers reside as well as instill pride, encourage social responsibility, and create a space for people to gather. NO FEE TO ENTER, SUBMISSION DEADLINE 9/5/21 BUDGET $8,000 - $12,000 SUBMISSION GUIDELINES AND REQUIREMENTS 1. Name, phone number, email, and Instagram 2. Bio/CV 3. A statement up to 200 words describing your connection to Norwalk, CA or the greater surrounding area of Southern California. 4. At least 3 samples of previous artwork that represent your artistic style. Can be mural or non-mural works. • Jpeg Only • No larger than 5 MB each • Name your files: Lastname_01, Lastname_02, Lastname_03 SELECTION PROCESS A selection committee composed of staff from NMM, along with MAS, will review submissions and select 1 artist taking into consideration the artist’s connection to Norwalk, their artistic vision and originality in past works. HOW TO APPLY Please send the requested materials via email with the subject line “Norwalk Mural Application” DEADLINE Materials must be received by Sunday September 5, 2021 Understand if selected, you will allow NMM to document the mural production process via photography and video. You will also need to agree to participating in video interviews and that NMM holds the rights of all images, photographs, and videos produced.
