Hazelnut Growers of Oregon – Machinery Maintenance Technician Job Summary This is a seasonal position. The maintenance technician work closely with the maintenance and operation teams to address and resolve equipment and manufacturing obstacles and mechanical/electrical problems. Performs routine maintenance while minimizing line downtime. Responsibilities • Utilize technical skills and knowledge in electrical/electronics (PLCs, A/C and D/C motors and drives, control logic, schematics and troubleshooting) to support continuous process manufacturing and achieve machine uptime metrics. • Troubleshoot problems and eliminate manufacturing constraints. • Maintain necessary parts and maintenance supplies in an organized manner. • Implement and document plant preventative maintenance. • Demonstrate high level of safety focus and awareness via maintenance actions and support within the facility. • Establish positive rapport and provide proactive customer service to all production employees and the operations team. • Attention to detail in completing work tasks, cooperative attitude and being reliable and responsible. • Supports QA department to ensure implementation of maintenance procedures to protect food product. Successful Candidates Will Have • Experience reading technical drawings and schematics. • Knowledge and practical applications experience in electrical/electronics, PLCs, A/C and D/D motors, and drives and controls. • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code • Comprehensive knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics troubleshooting and repair. • A willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges. • Ability to read, write, and understand English. (Without an interpreter) • A solid mechanical base skill set, and is familiar with motors, gearboxes, and belt and/or chain drive systems. • Familiarity with conveyor systems, bucket elevators, etc. • Electrical skills, ability to troubleshoot electrical problems, and familiar with the NEC and ANSI codes. • Pneumatic systems experience • Hydraulic experience. • PLC familiarity and some programming experience. • Welding skills and some light fabrication. • The ability to think on feet, with a sense of urgency, flexible, team player, approaches job with the attitude of a teacher. • Ability to work in a team environment in a positive manner of respect, cooperation & flexibility. • Ability to drive a forklift. • High school diploma or equivalent. (Preferred Associates or Technical Degree) • Prior food processing/food safety experience is preferred.
