Common Hands Farm, a biodynamic vegetable farm outside of Philmont NY, is looking to hire new crew members to join our farm crew through the fall starting in August. Both part-time and full-time work is available. This is our tenth year of production. We prefer that applicants have some prior farming experience even if it is limited. We grow over 150 crop varieties and attend 4 local farmers markets, have a large CSA, and work with many restaurant and wholesale outlets. Through the labor that we share on our farm, new farmers can learn about vegetable production farming, soil and plant growth, holistic farm management, greenhouse skills, regenerative agriculture basics, and attend farmers markets. Everything we grow is organically grown without chemical fertilizers, pesticides, etc. When? Our main work days are Monday-Friday from 7:30AM-5:30PM with an hour lunch. We are also hiring for farmers markets on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Part time hours are available. To some extent, we are flexible with crew members' schedules as long as everything pieces together. What? The crew help with all aspects of farming including but not limited to: harvesting, processing, planting, weeding, watering and irrigation, cultivating, preparing to market, and attending farmers markets. We try to place people in tasks that they prefer and excel at, but hope that everyone is flexible and open to sharing the workload. There are many opportunities to learn for new farmers and gardeners. Pay? The pay is negotiable and based on experience. Generally $13-$15 an hour.
