Fly Fishing 101 will be a 2 hour session taught by a professional fly fishing guide, and Lyons local Matt Decker. The first portion will be a classroom setting where Matt will discuss different bug entomology within our local fisheries, fish location, and different tactics for pursuing trout in all 4 seasons. He will discuss necessary gear, and the gear that he uses every day on the water. You will be provided with a lesson on knots and rigging as well as a chance to practice the different knots he uses. The second portion of the class will be a hands on casting clinic where Matt will provide a quick visual lesson on casting a fly rod. You will be provided with a loaner fly rod for you to be able to cast on the lawn while Matt will continue to provide quick tips to help improve your casting.
