About This Event The distressing emotions associated with separation and divorce often result in decisions to involve children and sometimes, their parents, in therapeutic services. Both the treatment process and the information provided to the treating professionals are likely influenced by the family's involvement in legal proceedings. While an experienced and well-trained therapist can help to improve the life situations for these families, a clinician who undertakes court-related treatment with insufficient experience and training may not only escalate family conflict but cause significant and far-reaching damage to the children, their parents, and their extended families.
