In this special October Owl Fest event, we will be constructing Screech Owl Nest Boxes and learning about the species' natural history. Join us for this fun and educational event to build your own Screech Owl Nest Box. The nest boxes we build are based on a tried and true design by biologist Fred Gehlbach who studied Eastern and Western Screech Owl nesting habits. The nest box is a perfect addition to any backyard and will greatly benefit Screech Owls in your backyard! The nest box kit comes with all you need to build your own. In the workshop on Sunday the 17th from 11am-12pm, we will walk you through assembling the box. All supplies you need are provided. This is a family friendly event, and no prior building experience required. We will meet at the Ornithology Center at 11am and build outside if we have good weather, and we will move inside for our rain location. Each paid registration will provide you with the Cedar nest box kit, ticket to the workshop, and entrance into the park. During the workshop, you will be given an educational packet about Screech Owls that also includes instruction on where to place your nest box when assembled.
